Moldova Philharmonic

Moldova Philharmonic

The Moldova Philharmonic Orchestra (Romanian—Filarmonica Moldova) is the main orchestra of Jassy city. The orchestra is housed in the Moldova State Philharmonic—an institution with a rich artistic history—and held its inaugural concert on 9th of October, 1942. The name “Moldova” in the title refers to the historical region of Moldavia, Romania.

This new identity presents a simple and elegant didone M, which has been redrawn to match the institution’s values and activities. The region of Moldavia has been represented by the letter M before—see the Moldova Mall. Moreover, the M can be used by itself in small-scale applications that would otherwise render the full logotype illegible, or in cases where the mark and logotype appear as separate elements. Finally, the mark can be cropped, deconstructed, multiplied, and enlarged in order to create patterns, frames for photography, and other graphics.

The institution already started to implement my design proposal across all media, including social networks, programme leaflets, brochures and posters.

In recent years, the market for art and design has expanded into a number of areas. From an aging demographic that spends its spare time on arts and crafts, to the confident and successful creative industries, the market for art and design materials is still buoyant.

The company in question is an established business. It has supplied tools and materials for professional artists and designers for many decades. Their product and service offerings aim for the top of the market, the quality of their products are of the very best and command a premium price point.

Woody

Woody

Woody is a small team of people that offers special flooring services. Their professional approach to projects includes assistance with selection, installation, and design. But what really makes Woody special is that they offer their clients free wooden objects made from pieces of their old floor. These items include jewelry boxes, hangers, picture frames, or even a giant sculpture of your ass!

The visual identity makes use of custom typography based on Alegreya Sans typeface which follows humanist proportions and principles and achives a ludic and harmonious feeling. The mark—serving as the key element—represents the uniqueness of Woody’s service: creating something new out of something old.

Nuite

Nuite

According to Greek mythology, Selene, Artemis, and Hecate are the three female deities associated with the moon. Relying on the connection between femininity and the moon, I designed a visual identity for a jewelry brand that seeks to explore … fuck that!

Let me be honest: This is an old project from my second year of college. I’ve since revisited it because I love the mark and the ligature. “Hey! I’m a graduate now, I’ve learned how to use grids&stuff, let me show you my impressive skills!”

Of course, in order to improve my earlier work, I conducted new research and spent several days designing only the layout for the letterhead. This entire process was also an attempt to satisfy one of my design fetishes; I’ve always wanted to design a visual identity for a jewelry or fashion brand.
